Bachelor of Science in Data Science

Program Description

The bachelor of science degree in data science is designed to address the core knowledge of data science field by focusing on required statistics, mathematics, computer science, and analytics to allow students to discover the fascinating world of data science. 

The program includes theoretical and practical applied approaches preparing students to enter the field of data science profession or continue their education in a professional graduate degree program. 

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the program, students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate ability to explore data and identify the best statistical and mathematical model to apply for its analysis. 
  • Demonstrate an ability to articulate, assess, and apply appropriate theories and principles of Machine Learning.  
  • Develop and implement data analysis strategies based on theoretical principles, ethical considerations, and detailed knowledge of the underlying data.  
  • Develop meaningful reports and visualization of data analytics appropriate to a technical and non-technical audience.

To apply to Webster University Georgia for a bachelor's degree, you will need to:

  • Document of school completion: general education diploma, high school diploma, or school-leaving certificate.
  • Demonstrate a grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) or equivalent.
  • Demonstrate English proficiency at a level equal to or higher than IELTS 6.0.

Each applicant needs to demonstrate their ability to undertake the Webster program, which will be taught in English. Nevertheless, for the purpose of maintaining diversity, Webster Georgia accepts some students with lower English scores, equivalent to IELTS scores between 5.5 and 5.9. Applicants who do not meet our English requirements may be conditionally accepted as English as a Second Language (ESL) students.

ESL courses are taken during the first two semesters. The classes are taken at the same time as other subjects related to the student's major and are counted toward their degrees in the form of electives.

Webster accepts applications from citizens of all countries who meet eligibility requirements.

Document of School Completion

Each applicant must submit a document certifying they have completed high school, such as a school leaving certificate or high school diploma. Applicants considered for admission to undergraduate studies at Webster University must complete their high school education in an accredited educational institution recognized by Webster University, and meet all program admission standards. Applicants must have a grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) or equivalent for full admission.

Transcript

Each applicant must submit an official listing document demonstrating grades (transcript). Those who receive an attestant are not required to submit anything further, since that document contains their grades.

If you are still in school, you may submit a transcript of your grades from your 10th and 11th years of studies. You will receive a provisional admission decision. After we receive your final transcript, we will update your admissions decision from provisional to full.

Proof of English Language Proficiency

We accept scores from several English proficiency tests, including the following:

  • IELTS: 6.0 minimum score
  • TOEFL iBT: 80 minimum score
  • TOEFL PBT: 550 minimum score
  • Pearson (PTE): 53 minimum score
  • Duolingo: 110 minimum score
  • SAT's English-based Reading and Writing: 450 minimum score
  • ACT composite score: 23 minimum score

Or you have to pass the English exam held by Webster University Georgia.

Passport

To complete your admissions file, we will also require a scanned file of your passport identification page.

In case of a minor, the person's birth certificate and the identity document of the parent/guardian signing the contract are uploaded (in case of a birth certificate issued by a foreign country — a notarized translation). A power of attorney and a copy of the passport of the parent issuing the power of attorney are also required.

Document Languages

All documents must be in English. If these documents are not originally in English, please get a notarized translation and submit the scanned version of the original and translation.

If names in a passport and educational document are not the same then provide an affidavit from the court, confirming that the both documents belong to the same person.

The authenticity of the document is verified by the Ministry of Education and the National Center for Education Quality Enhancement.

All applications to Webster University in Georgia are submitted online.

SUBMIT APPLICATION

Once we receive your application and documents through the online system, it typically takes five business days to review your candidacy and send you a decision by email.

Once an applicant is admitted, they are required to sign the contract with Webster University and make a payment for the first academic semester. In addition to contract, students are required to pay $170 application fee.

The fee of $8,900 U.S. confirms intent to enroll at the University. Enrollment in classes will be completed only after the student's tuition fee is received. Students are encouraged to pay half of the tuition fee as soon as possible, to guarantee their ability to study in their desired semester. The second half of the tuition may be paid by the end of the first week of the second semester.
