The Academy of Art University, formerly Academy of Art College and Richard Stephens Academy of Art, is a private for-profit art school in San Francisco, California. It was founded as the Academy of Advertising Art by Richard S. Stephens in 1929.

Does a career in digital electronics and materials technology or engineering interest you? Look to the ABET Accredited Materials Science and Engineering program at Alfred University. This challenging program will provide exposure to the concepts relating to multi-material and composite technologies, well as composite material interactions with living biological systems for students interested in the focus of biomedical materials science.

What Will You Study?

During your first year, you'll take Introduction to Engineering and two Engineering Explorations Lab in addition to foundation courses in math, chemistry, and physics. Over the next few years, a blend of classroom and laboratory experiences will help you define your unique interests in this very broad field. In your senior year, you'll conduct independent research with a faculty advisor - on topics ranging from high-strength metal alloys to polymer recycling to oxide nanosheets for generating hydrogen from water.

Official Transcripts

Official high school transcripts must be submitted by your high school counselor or college advisor - This can be done though the Common App, Naviance or by fax/mail.

A notarized copy of a GED is also accepted.

International Applicants:

International students must submit original or certified copies of all secondary and post-secondary transcripts or records of grades to- date and showing proof of graduation. These must be prepared and authorized by the student's home institution and be accompanied by a certified English translation. Learn more about international student requirements.

2. Essay or Personal Statement

You must submit an essay with either the Alfred University Application or Common Application.

International students are required to submit official scores from either the SAT, the ACT, TOEFL, or IELTS examinations. Read more about required scores.

The language of instruction at Alfred University is English.

All undergraduate international applicants are required to submit official scores from either the SAT, the ACT, TOEFL or IELTS examinations. If an international student has taken classes in a US University or college; they must apply as a transfer student, and we will review all English courses on the transcript(s) to show English proficiency.

Alfred University reserves the right to request undergraduate applicants to submit TOEFL or IELTS scores if their SAT or ACT scores are inconclusive.
