Sacred Heart University is a private, Roman Catholic university in Fairfield, Connecticut. It was founded in 1963 by Walter W. Curtis, Bishop of the Diocese of Bridgeport, Connecticut. Sacred Heart was the first Catholic university in the United States to be staffed by the laity.

Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity

In the BS in Cybersecurity program, you will also:

  • Gain a computing-based foundation in mathematics and computer science programming that covers a broad range of concepts applicable to a range of cybersecurity specializations
  • Advance your studies with core computer science and cybersecurity courses that emphasize hands-on laboratory experiences, including web development, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and vulnerability assessment
  • Learn to analyze complex computing problems and apply computing principles to identify solutions

  • Study the socio-ethical and legal aspects of cybersecurity
  • Choose between two areas of focus, cyber operations and cyber defense -- two of the most sought-after specialties in cybersecurity
  • Enhance your ability to work with and lead a team
  • Learn to apply security principles and practices to the environment, hardware, software, and human aspects of a system
  • Analyze and evaluate systems in order to maintain operations in the presence of risks and threats
  • Study in a curriculum that meets the latest recommendations of the Joint Task Force on Cybersecurity Education, and offers courses from five computing disciplines: computer science, computer engineering, information technology, information systems, and software engineering
  • Learn from experienced faculty who are leading experts in various sectors of cybersecurity
  • Complete a required internship in a cybersecurity-related business organization or research lab; on-campus at our computer support center, The Factory; or in the Information Technology Department
  • Use state-of-the-art technology in our dedicated cybersecurity lab, which includes a Security Operations Center (SOC) analyst workspace to monitor for cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and other technology risks

  • If you have not done so already, register for a campus visit on our visit planner page
  • Submit your Common Application by the appropriate deadline.
  • Have your guidance office submit your current official secondary school transcript.
  • Submit one letter of recommendation from an individual other than a family member.
  • If you are applying Early Decision, submit the Early Decision Contract
  • Submit a non-refundable $50 application fee when completing your Common Application. If paying by check, make check payable to Sacred Heart University.
  • We are a test-optional school. If you elect to submit your standardized test scores, use the following Sacred Heart University codes:
