The University of Dayton is a private, Catholic research university in Dayton, Ohio. Founded in 1850 by the Society of Mary, it is one of three Marianist Universities in the United States and the second-largest private university in Ohio.

Master of Science in Computer Engineering

As a computer engineering graduate student, you will work with top scholars and industry leaders to develop your area of expertise. University of Dayton faculty are nationally recognized as educators and researchers. Our graduate computer engineering program is a collaboration between the School of Engineering's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the College of Arts and Sciences' Department of Computer Science.

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering employs faculty and research facilities that support advanced research in signal and image processing, high-performance computing, embedded systems and digital electronics. The Department of Computer Science employs faculty and research facilities that support advanced research in database and data mining systems, semantic web technologies, peer-to-peer networking and cloud computing, programming languages, human-computer interaction, graph algorithms and graph theory.

A substantial amount of financial aid is available to support your continued studies. We offer competitive teaching assistantships, research assistantships and fellowships to some of our advanced students. We receive a large number of qualified applications each term.

Once your application is submitted and all required materials have been received, the admission evaluation and review process takes approximately 6-8 weeks for most programs. However, the process may take longer in certain programs.

Letter of Recommendation

A recommendation form will be sent directly to the individual(s) listed on the application. Students may change their recommender or resend this form through the Admission Account.

The University of Dayton's calendar is divided into three terms. Your program may have specific application deadlines, so please review the details of your chosen program. If a specific date is not provided, the follow deadlines for international students are:

  • Fall term (August through December) — June 1
  • Spring term (January through April) — November 1
  • Summer term (May through July) — March 1

Should you be unable to attend a specific term, please return to your admission portal to submit a new application for a future term. Any submitted application documents will be moved to the new term application. Updated financial documentation may be required.
