The University of Illinois Springfield is a public university in Springfield, Illinois. The university was established by the Illinois General Assembly in 1969 as Sangamon State University with a focus on post-graduate education. It became the third member of the University of Illinois system on July 1, 1995.

Credentials Required:

  • Official yearly or semesterly mark sheets for each examination attempt, including failed or repeated exams.
  • Official certification of degree and date awarded (final degree certificate)
  • Official certified English translation by approved translator

    A 3 year Bachelor's degree alone will not be considered as a Comparable Bachelor's Degree.

The University of Illinois Springfield offers two options for applicants with international credentials to submit their supporting materials to us:

  • An evaluation completed by a staff member at UIS
  • An external evaluation of their academic credentials through a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES)

An application for admission will not be reviewed until a credential evaluation has been completed. Credentials submitted for evaluation must also be considered official. A document is considered official when it is issued directly by the high school, college, or university where the credential was earned to UIS or the selected NACES member for evaluation.

Transcript evaluation by UIS staff

Applicants who wish to request a University of Illinois Springfield credential evaluation will have to pay a non-refundable $150 credential evaluation fee through their admissions status page and provide UIS with the required documents based on the country or countries where you studied. 

If the official credentials are not in English, a certified translation of the credentials must also be submitted. Please review a list of approved translators for your academic credentials:

If your institution wants to send the documents to us electronically, they can be uploaded through the Common Application (secondary school students only) or emailed to incomingtranscripts@uis.edu. The sender must use an institutional email address. Transcripts received from non-institutional email addresses, such as gmail, yahoo, hotmail, etc will not be accepted. UIS will also not accept forwarded emails with attached credentials.
