Learn how materials behave at all scales, from electrons to skyscrapers, to improve the performance of existing materials and to design and fabricate new, higher performance materials.  

Applications must be submitted with a nonrefundable $70 application fee to be considered. Submitting the application and the fee begins the admission process and should be done as soon as possible to avoid delays. WSU cannot review your application without the $70 application fee.

Have earned the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution. Typically, students should have completed a minimum of four years of study beyond grade 12.

Have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or a B grade or better.

Gain admittance from the department or program in which you are seeking a degree or pursuing graduate study. The department/program may have additional requirements. Applicants can learn about the specific departmental by checking the Degree Programs page.

Submit unofficial transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. If the transcripts are not in English, an unofficial copy of the transcript in the applicant’s native language, along with its English translation, is acceptable. These transcripts should be uploaded through the online application. NOTE: Once transcripts are submitted, they become part of the official Graduate School application file and cannot be returned or transferred. Foreign Credential and Transcript Evaluation is not required.
