The world of business is full of opportunities. So where do you start? This course includes everything you could want from a business degree. From expertise in our research areas of sustainability, strategy, and enterprise to events like our leadership series of guest lectures. You’ll learn the theory behind what makes a successful business. We focus heavily on giving you the practical knowledge you’ll need for your career – whether that’s starting your own business or working your way up in a big corporation. As you progress through the course, you can start to specialise in an area of business that interests you including finance, HR, marketing, technology and sustainability – you won’t be short of options. By the end of this course, you should be able to think strategically. You should have an entrepreneurial mindset. You should also have the skills to be a successful manager anywhere in the world. Manchester: A Global City Manchester is considered a northern business hub and home to the headquarters of many national, and international, firms with lots of graduate opportunities. You’ll find exciting roles in small agencies, large firms and everything in between. This puts us in the perfect place to offer an education rooted in the real world – with relevant skills, useful experience and valuable connections to support your every ambition. You'll study in a city with a wide range of employers and a demand for ambitious graduates. Future You In your final year, you’ll complete a major project. This could be consulting for a real business (recently Manchester City FC, for example), offering your skills to a charity, or working with course-mates to set up a business. All three could lead to job opportunities – one recent graduate who was the sales director of her young enterprise business is now a regional sales manager at Ribena Lucozade. Of course, you might want to run your own business when you graduate. With the optional Business Creation module, you can get started during your studies, networking with other entrepreneurs and attend business events at our start-up hub, Innospace. You will also have the opportunity to take part in the Young Enterprise competition, where you can set up your own business, apply your learnings and present your business idea. One of our 2023/24 entries @onecupuk came second out of the whole competition, with their eco-friendly, collapsable, clippable, anti-spiking cup. Making a Difference Profits aren’t the only thing driving businesses. We believe you need to conduct business in a sustainable and ethical way to be an effective manager. Our values underpin everything we do here at Manchester Met. In fact, you’ll live and breathe sustainability while you’re here, studying in the environmentally-friendly business school. You’ll also get to work alongside innovative start-ups at Manchester Met-based Innospace, where we support people with great business ideas and the commitment to turn them into reality. . for more information click here
