Montclair State University is a public research university in Montclair, New Jersey, with parts of the campus extending into Clifton and into Little Falls. As of fall 2018, Montclair State was, by enrollment, the second largest public university in New Jersey.

Molecular Biology (MS) – STEM Designated Degree Program

The Molecular Biology curriculum encompasses the study of biology on a molecular level including the structure, function and makeup of biologically important molecules such as DNA, RNA and proteins. Research, writing and hands-on experiences in the classroom and laboratory provide the means for students of the biological sciences to develop the practical and intellectual skills required to succeed as productive members of society in imperative and rewarding careers. Our programs are designed and implemented to promote educational equity and academic excellence through close interactions between faculty and students in the classroom, in the research laboratory and in the field.

Along with the Molecular Biology (MS) degree, the biology department also offers the following options for graduate study: BiologyBiology (Combined BS/MAT)Biology with a concentration in Ecology and EvolutionBiology with a concentration in PhysiologyBiology with a concentration in Pedagogy and a certificate in Molecular Biology.

English Language Proficiency Test Scores Students must have official scores sent directly from the testing service to Montclair State University. Students must submit one of the following as proof:

TOEFL IBT - 83; IELTS - 6.5; Duolingo - 105; PTE - 53

Standardized Test Scores: The GMAT will be waived for applicants with a Bachelors GPA of 3.0 or higher (see additional test waiver policies).

Resume: A current resume is not required, but applicants are encouraged to include one.

Rolling admission: This program does not have a deadline. You are encouraged to complete your application at least six weeks prior to the beginning of classes.
