Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) is a public university in East Anglia, United Kingdom. Its origins are in the Cambridge School of Art (CSA), founded by William John Beamont, a Fellow of Trinity College at University of Cambridge, in 1858. It became a university in 1992, and was renamed after John Ruskin, the Oxford University professor and author, in 2005. Ruskin gave the inauguration speech of the Cambridge School of Art in 1858. It is one of the "post-1992 universities". The motto of the university is in Latin Excellentia per societatem, in English Excellence through partnership.[3] In 2022, Anglia Ruskin has 35,195 students. ARU has six campuses across the south-eastern portion of the United Kingdom in Cambridgeshire, Essex, and Greater London.[4][5][6]

As well as gaining business communication skills, you’ll explore language and cultural theory, and the research skills and techniques that you’ll need to both critically evaluate the literature on the course and put into practice in your own dissertation. You’ll also examine the development of relations, communicative styles and values between individuals and groups of different cultural backgrounds. By learning to use different methodological tools to understand language and communication, you’ll sharpen your analytical skills and gain the confidence to think independently about the interdisciplinary, and often multinational, challenges of the modern workplace. Seminars and guest lectures hosted by ARU’s Research Centre for Intercultural and Multilingual Studies will supplement your studies, and you’ll be supported throughout by our expert specialist lecturers. As a student on our MA Intercultural Communication you’ll join a course twice awarded the National Languages for Export award, given to organisations that promote the importance of understanding international culture and language. The impact of our English Language and Literature research was judged as "world-leading" in the Research Excellence Framework 2021 (REF2021). Course Leader: Dr Bettina Beinhoff
