Master of Science in Civil & Environmental Engineering
The Rowan University Master of Science in Engineering program requires the completion of 30 semester hours (s.h.) and thesis research/engineering project. Between six and nine of the required semester hours can be Thesis Research/Engineering Project.
The following courses make up the M.S. in Civil Engineering & Environmental Engineering program.
- 10 Courses / 30 Semester Hours
- Foundation Courses: Yes
- Graduation / Exit / Thesis Requirements: Yes
Our Master of Science in Civil & Environmental Engineering provides interdisciplinary coursework designed to increase the understanding and application of engineering principles. All of our program faculty possess expertise in transportation, geo-technology, structures, water resources, and the environment. Courses include applied, hands-on education, and build the knowledge and training needed for students to contribute to the engineering field.
Interdisciplinary areas include mechanics and materials, and sustainability. This specialization also includes the following focus areas: Mechanics and Materials; Signals, Systems and Computational Intelligence; Sustainability; and Transportation Engineering.
As a student, you can choose between a thesis track, and a coursework track. You may also work on a project, which may can count toward a coursework track degree. Most full-time students work on funded research projects, leading to a thesis. Most part-time students select the coursework track. In order to be eligible for a Research Assistantship, students must select the thesis track.
