The Accounting major (designated as a pre-major) consists of a strong technical foundation in financial accounting. It also involves training in written and oral communication development, teamwork, and critical thinking. The Accounting major prepares students for careers in accounting, auditing, budgeting, computer systems, financial management and taxation. Courses include:
- Auditing
- Personal and Business Tax Planning
- Not-for-profit and Governmental Accounting
- Fraud Examination
- International Taxation
Students complete an internship during their senior year. Graduates find careers in private or public accounting firms, banking, management or computer information systems.
Baylor offers a Master Degree Five Year Program for Accounting majors. Students can waive 12 hours of undergraduate work and complete the masters program in a shorter period of time. This program allows students to choose between a Master of Accountancy (MAcc) or a Master of Taxation (MTax).
The Hankamer School of Business offers student exchange and study abroad programs.
