The Neuroscience major (designated as a pre-major) is the study of the nervous system with a special emphasis on the brain. Neuroscience spans many academic fields, including biology, psychology and chemistry. Courses develop a thorough understanding of the nervous system, from molecules and genes to behavior and motor skills, and related disorders. Available courses include:
- Cognitive Psychology
- Clinical Neuroscience
- Sensation and Perception
- Literature of Behavioral Neuroscience
- Neuropharmacology
Students have the opportunity to work with professors in and out of the classroom. Field studies and individual research projects are part of the program. Most graduates continue their studies and research through graduate or medical school. Others focus on the research aspect of science and work in medical or neuroscience labs.
Baylor offers several Living-Learning Centers, which are housing opportunities designed to place students of common interests together. The Science & Health Living-Learning Center is a residential option available for pre-health students. Students are able to collaborate with each other as well as science faculty and medical researchers.
