A World-class Institution FIU is Miami's public research university. Offering bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees, both on campus and fully online. FIU is worlds ahead in its service to the academic and local community. Designated a Preeminent State Research University, FIU emphasizes research as a major component in the university's mission. The Robert Stempel School of Public Health and Social Work and the Knight Foundation School of Computing and Information Sciences' Discovery Lab, are just two of many colleges, schools and setting new standards through research initiatives. For more than 50 years, FIU has positioned itself as one of South Florida's anchor institutions by solving some of the greatest challenges of our time. We are dedicated to enriching the lives of the local and global community. With a student body of more than 56,000, we are among the largest universities in the nation and have collectively graduated more than 300,000 alumni, 165,000 of whom live and work in South Florida.

We all put our pants on one leg at a time. But for some people with physical, cognitive, or mental disabilities – such as children with autism, individuals with a stroke or victims of trauma – doing the simplest activities we take for granted can be a monumental task.

Occupational Therapy is a high-demand rehabilitative discipline that helps these people acquire the skills to perform daily activities and lead fuller lives with functional independence.

FIU Occupational Therapy’s entry-level Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MS-OT) program prepares graduates by emphasizing evidence-based practice, interdisciplinary collaborative learning, research, cultural awareness, fieldwork engagement and leading technology so you can develop effective solutions that facilitate participations for the people we serve.

Whether studying mobility issues among seniors, helping patients regain skills after injury, or aiding the development of children with disabilities, our faculty and graduates are on the front lines of practice and research to help restore people’s way of living.

As one of the six departments of the Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing & Health Sciences, FIU Occupational Therapy promotes effective interprofessional collaboration across fields, advanced research in healthcare delivery and evidence-based practice, as well as significant engagement with communities and partners around the world.
