Develop Technologies That Fuel Healthcare Advancement

Build your career with a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering. It’s a great opportunity for those interested in surgical and cancer treatment planning, engineering-based simulation in cardiovascular disease and treatment, development of devices for improved and novel diagnosis, image guided surgery and surgical robotics, and development of assistive and rehabilitative technology. Choose from three different tracks available, each providing you with an understanding of relevant physiology and biology, knowledge of contemporary topics in medical technology, training in the modern biomedical engineering tools, and the ability to engage in advanced engineering studies including elements of research, analysis, design and experimentation.

Graduates of the biomedical engineering program have a command of the application of engineering principles to biological and health systems. You’ll be instilled with the professional skills necessary to gain employment in the biomedical engineering industry or to enter competitive biomedical engineering doctoral programs. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. institution recognized by UCF or its equivalent from a foreign institution.

GPA of 3.0 or more (on a 4.0 maximum) in all work attempted while registered as an undergraduate student OR while registered as an upper-division undergraduate student (normally based on the last sixty attempted semester hours)

OR, a graduate degree, professional degree or equivalent from an accredited U.S. institution recognized by UCF or its equivalent from a foreign institution in a field related to the discipline of the program to which the student is applying.

The full language of the UCF Admissions Regulations for Graduate Students can be found at regulations.ucf.edu/chapter2.asp (UCF-2,003, UCF 2.0031, UCF 2.009).

International students, except those who are from countries where English is the only official language, those who have earned a degree from an accredited US college or university recognized by UCF, or those who have earned a degree from a country where English is the only official language or a university at which English is the only official language of instruction, are required to submit a score on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) before they can be admitted to the university. Although we prefer the TOEFL, we will also accept the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) scores. Students who are non-native speakers of English (and do not have a degree from a U.S. institution) must pass the English Speaking test administered by the UCF English Institute before they will be permitted to teach as a Graduate Teaching Associate or Graduate Teaching Assistant.

 

A TOEFL computer-based score of 220 or 80 on the internet-based TOEFL (or equivalent score on the paper-based test) or 6.5 on the IELTS is required unless otherwise specified by the program. The list below includes programs that have determined a minimum required TOEFL or IELTS score higher than the university requirement.
