Academic requirements

  • Equivalent of a 2.40 Grade Point Average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale in high school
  • High school diploma equivalent or certificate of graduation
  • Official high school transcript (official record of marks/scores/grades)
  • National test scores (if required by home country)
  • Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) credit are accepted but not required
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
    • Undergraduate minimum scores: 
      • TOEFL PBT (Paper-Based Exam): 500
      • TOEFL iBT (Internet-Based Exam): 61

  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
  • Undergraduate minimum score:
    • IELTS Overall Band: 6.0
  • Official IELTS test scores must be sent to the Office of Admissions. Please list CSUMB as a recipient of your scores when you take the test or contact the Test Center where you took the IELTS exam to request that they send an official Test Report Form to CSUMB. More information is on the IELTS website.
