Drexel Engineering Mission Our mission is to cultivate technically and theoretically trained adaptable engineers who are dedicated to discovery and the application of technology, and who understand the global, social and ethical implications of creating sustainable solutions to societal challenges. We will achieve this through the production of robust research and the meaningful integration of emerging engineering approaches and innovations across digital, human and physical platforms. Our Vision As the cornerstone of Drexel University, we will reimagine the continuum of engineering research, education and practice—strengthening and integrating all three through strategic collaborations with industry, government and non-profit partners—to foster long-term sustainability and the cultivation of engineering talent across diverse local and global communities.

The graduate program in robotics and autonomy from Drexel Engineering prepares professionals for applying deepened skillsets needed to take on the rapid changes advances in the design and use of robotic systems and technologies. Robotics engineering impacts many critical areas of society and industry, from medicine and healthcare to large retailers like Amazon, and incorporation of Industry 4.0, advanced manufacturing, and the Internet of Things. As a student you will explore the frontiers and ideas that seek to address challenges and transformations in business and manufacturing with an eye for ways in which modern civilization can be impacted by robotic applications and automation of processes.

A master’s in robotics and autonomy provides knowledge the fundamental underpinnings of modern robotics using machine learning while drawing from the fundamental principles from various disciplines. The program develops skills required for innovation of successful solutions, leading to expertise in implementation and in integration of industry-leading tools. You will learn critical thinking, apply creativity, and learn skills that you will need to advance your career or entrepreneurial ambitions in industry or provide a foundation for continuing study as a PhD.

Admission Process

Acceptance for graduate study at Drexel requires, at minimum, a four-year bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in the US or equivalent international institution. Although admission requirements vary by program, acceptance typically requires a cumulative grade point average of 3.0. Individual departments often have their own added requirements. Visit our admissions guidelines page to learn more about our requirements and how to apply.

International Students

In addition to the other materials noted above, a standardized English Language exam will be required, such as the TOEFL or IELTS, for international students that are applying to any of our graduate degree programs.  A minimum TOEFL score of 90 or IELTS of 6.5 is required for all programs. For Fall 2021 we are also accepting Duolingo scores. Please note that the GRE General Test is optional for all applicants seeking to enter one any of our graduate degree programs.  Students who have received instruction in English in their primary and secondary schools and students who have been in the United States for four years or longer and have received a degree from an American institution may be eligible for a waiver of the English proficiency exam requirement by sending a written request to the department or program to which they are applying.

To learn more about special requirements, visit the office of International Students and Scholars Services (ISSS) for information and support for international students.

Early acceptance to Drexel Engineering master’s programs is available to international students while earning bachelor’s degrees. Two options are available:

  • The 3+1+1 Program for Global Education Students is if offered in partnership with the Office of Global Studies. Students in this program study at their home institution for three years and then come to Drexel in years 4 and 5 to complete their bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
  • The Summer Research English Language Early Accept Program is offered in partnership with the English Language Center (ELC) at Drexel University. Students with a STEM or Engineering background apply to the master’s program and receive admission decisions before the end of their third year of undergraduate program. In the summer before beginning graduate study, students participate in a 5-week English language and research preparatory program.

Financial Aid

The cost of  a master’s degree program includes tuition, fees and other expenses. Scholarships, fellowships and award are available for graduate students ranging from need-based to merit-based to diversity awards. Learn about fellowships and awards opportunities within the College of Engineering. Additionally, prospective students may wish to visit the Center for Scholar Development Fellowships office for national and prestigious fellowship awards, and the Graduate Admissions Financing and Drexel Central Financial Aid & Assistance to learn about the different opportunities available to students.

Department specific awards may be available for new students which are assessed for eligibility on application submission.
