Master of Accountancy (MACC)

The AACSB-accredited Master of Accountancy (MACC) program, from WSU(s) Barton School, combines an in-depth study of accountancy with broad exposure to all aspects of business and management—equipping you with the skills and knowledge you will need for career advancement, or a career switch, in the public or private sector.

Curriculum

The MACC program requires a minimum of 30 hours depending on your academic background. Students without a bachelor(s) degree in accounting can expect to complete additional hours for their MACC degree.

In addition to the traditional master(s) degree in accounting, the Barton School also offers two specialized concentrations: accounting information systems (AIS) and taxation.

Courses are offered during the evening to accommodate adult learners.

Full admission to the MACC professional curriculum requires:

  1. An undergraduate degree in accounting, or the functional equivalent, from an AACSB-accredited institution.
  2. An overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.20 on a 4.00 scale.
  3. A grade of B (3.0) or better in all undergraduate accounting courses.

Full admission to the MACC professional curriculum requires

  1. An undergraduate degree in accounting, or the functional equivalent of an undergraduate degree in accounting from an AACSB-accredited institution.
  2. An overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.200 on a 4.000 scale.
  3. A grade of B (3.000) or better in all undergraduate accounting courses.

Applicants not meeting these criteria will be required to take the GMAT and obtain a satisfactory score. A satisfactory GMAT score is considered to be in the 25th percentile or higher for each section and for the overall score.

International applicants may have to complete significant additional foundational coursework beyond what may appear on a students transcript. This can include, but is not limited to, (re)taking business law, financial accounting, taxation, accounting information systems and auditing courses at Wichita State University.

They are required to receive final admit decision and an I-20.

International applicants are not U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents with a permanent resident (green) card. This includes those in the United States on a student, work or visitor visa (or spouse).

  • Priority deadline: March 1 fall semester, Aug. 31 spring semester — Application fee - $75
  • Secondary deadline: April 30 fall semester, Sept. 30 spring semester — Application fee - $135
  • Late submission: any date after secondary deadline — Application fee - $175
  • International readmission and deferral fee — Application fee - $75
