Bachelor of Science in Data Analytics
Today’s world runs on big data. The University of Michigan-Flint’s Bachelor of Science in Data Analytics program teaches you how to clean, visualize, and analyze data to make strategic decisions and solve real-world problems – skills in high demand in business, government, and nonprofits.
Data science is the sixth fastest-growing occupation in the country, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Jobs for data scientists will grow 36 percent between 2021 and 2031, the BLS predicts.
Data analytics occupations also rank high in the 100 Best Jobs list published by U.S. News & World Report – including three slots in the top 20:

UM-Flint’s data analytics program is interdisciplinary, allowing you to customize it to your interests. It offers five tracks:
- Business Analytics
- Data Science
- Geospatial analytics
- Health Data Analytics
- Social Analytics
You learn to use state-of-the-art software and programming languages to manage and analyze data. Some of the skills you learn include how to:
- Assess data quality
- Evaluate whether the data you collect has limitations
- Generate insights from your data using tools and algorithms
- Effectively communicate your insights to different audiences, both in reports and visualizations
- Use a variety of technical skills in information technology, computer science, and statistics to solve problems and make decisions
