In our Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree program, you can major in electrical engineering and gain a broad foundation in the field through combined classroom and laboratory work. Our program prepares you to enter the profession or pursue a graduate degree.

We provide the education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental and societal context. Through our courses, you’ll learn sensory processing, pipelining, digital communications and more. 

In the electrical engineering major, you’ll hone your focus in at least one of the following areas: 

To complete your application to Case Western Reserve, submit the below materials via the Common App or Coalition with Scoir by the appropriate deadline.

  • $75 application fee
    •  If the application fee will place a financial hardship on your family, choose from the list of indicators on the Common Application or Coalition Application to qualify for a fee waiver. If you received notice you were granted a fee waiver, please indicate as such on the CWRU member page section of the application.
  • CWRU is test-optional. For students who choose to submit SAT or ACT scores, there are three ways you can submit them. You can report your scores on the Common or Coalition Application, have your official score reports sent from the testing agency or self-report your scores on your applicant portal, which you will be given access to within two weeks of submitting your application. Enrolling students will confirm their testing with official score reports.

    • ACT 3244
  • English translations, if applicable, for academic records and recommendations
  • English language exam score submitted to Case Western Reserve via the testing agency or you can submit self-reported scores by completing the form on your applicant portal. Enrolling students will confirm their testing with official score reports.
  • We accept the following language exams and scores for non-native English speakers:
    • Duolingo English Test: 115
    • International English Language Testing System: 7
    • PTE Academic: 61
    • TOEFL iBT: 90 (including Home Edition and Paper Edition tests)
  • The English proficiency requirement can be automatically waived if you meet any of these standards:
    • Attend a school where the language of instruction is English for two years by the time of graduation
    • Score 630 or higher on the SAT Evidence-based Reading and Writing section
    • Score 26 or higher on the ACT English
