Hofstra University is a private university in Hempstead, New York. Hofstra originated in 1935 as an extension of New York University under the name Nassau College – Hofstra Memorial of New York University.[6] It became independent Hofstra College in 1939[7] and gained university status in 1963. Comprising ten schools, including the Zucker School of Medicine and the Maurice A. Deane School of Law, Hofstra has hosted a series of prominent presidential conferences and several United States presidential debates.[8]

Develop state-of-the-art computing expertise that will prepare you for a highly successful career when you enroll in the Master of Science (MS) in Computer Science at Hofstra University. Study dynamic areas such as data mining and machine learning; networks and network security; distributed, parallel, and mobile computing; computer graphics and computer vision; and artificial intelligence. Gain valuable hands-on experience through paid positions offered as part of our co-op program. Choose to take courses either online or on-campus. Scholarships are available for qualified candidates. Please note, the GRE is not required for admission.

International students are invited to apply to Hofstra using the appropriate application system for their program of interest (more details are available on our application page). In addition to required applicant materials (which vary by program), international students must provide proof of English Language proficiency. Permanent residents who have been living in the US for a minimum of 3 years are exempt from this requirement. Acceptable means of proficiency include:

Bachelor’s or graduate degree from a regionally accredited US Institution

Bachelor’s or graduate degree from Africa Anglophone countries (Botswana, Cameroon, Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Melawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe)

Bachelor’s or graduate degree from Commonwealth Caribbean Anglophone countries (Antigua, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Guyana, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, and Turks and Caicos).

*Some graduate programs require a higher level of proficiency.
