Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry

Biochemists study the molecules of life. In the biochemistry major, you’ll work in the lab to learn about the chemical processes that happen in living cells and how those impact the function and health of plants, animals, and humans.

This field of science blends chemistry and biology and is essential for developing everything from vaccines and medications to sustainable agricultural practices. A BS in Biochemistry degree is a gateway to a nearly unlimited range of career opportunities in industry, academia, and government.

An Intensive Science Curriculum

Your courses will include a thorough introduction to chemical subdisciplines: analytical, biochemistry, inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry. You’ll also gain hands-on experience through lab work and classes in genetics, molecular biology, immunology, plant physiology, or general virology.
