Aerospace Engineering

The Mechanical Engineering concentration in Aerospace Engineering provides students with foundations of the design of aircraft and spacecraft. You will take courses that focus on aerospace fundamentals, including flight dynamics, aerodynamics, power and propulsion systems, and aircraft structures.

Concentration in Aerospace Engineering

The aerospace engineering concentration aims to provide students with foundations of the design of aircraft and spacecraft. Coursework related to this concentration will focus on aerospace fundamentals, including flight dynamics, aerodynamics, power and propulsion systems, and aircraft structures.

The concentration is open to students with a declared major in Mechanical Engineering, and requires three core aerospace concentration courses (9 credits) and one aerospace concentration elective course (3 credits) . The concentration is noted on students official transcripts.

Students in this Concentration are required to take two introductory courses: Introduction to Aerospace Engineering (ME 371) and Aerodynamics (ME 476), and one advanced course, Structural Mechanics (ME 404), plus two additional advanced Aerospace Engineering Concentration electives. 

It is recommended that students interested in pursuing a concentration in aerospace engineering declare their concentration as early as possible in their degree program in order to facilitate course planning, but in no case later than the beginning of the first semester of a students junior year.

International students applying to Catholic University must have successfully completed a university preparatory course of study at a secondary school (a minimum of 12 years of primary and secondary school training comprising the equivalent to a U.S. high school diploma). Upon receipt of your completed application and required admission materials, your credentials are reviewed by members of the admission staff.

  • Once your application is complete, the evaluation and review process takes approximately 2-4 weeks (certain programs may have a longer evaluation and review process).
  • Official decision letters, immigration documents, and instructions for confirming your enrollment will be sent via email to the email address used on the admission application.
