Kennesaw State University (KSU) is a public research university in the state of Georgia with two campuses in the Atlanta metropolitan area, one in Kennesaw and the other in Marietta on a combined 581 acres (235 ha) of land. The school was founded in 1963 by the Georgia Board of Regents using local bonds and a federal space-grant during a time of major Georgia economic expansion after World War II. KSU also holds classes at the Cobb Galleria Centre, Dalton State College, and in Paulding County (Dallas).[6] The total enrollment exceeds 45,000 students making KSU the third-largest university by enrollment in Georgia.

Master of Science in Chemical Sciences

Are you interested in graduate-level studies in chemistry or biochemistry? The Master of Science in Chemical Sciences (MSCB) is a thesis-based program with tracks in chemistry and biochemistry, designed for you to complete your coursework and thesis research within two academic years.

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, part of KSU’s College of Science and Mathematics (CSM), offers this broad-based, interdisciplinary program. The curriculum is flexible and can be customized to fit your particular background and research interests. You will begin work with potential research mentors on projects that demonstrate the interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary nature of inquiry in the chemical sciences. In your second year, you'll work closely with your mentor on your thesis project. 

Research opportunities are available in all areas of chemistry and biochemistry, from synthetic organic chemistry to enzymology. MSCB will prepare you to think in an interdisciplinary fashion about problems in chemistry, biochemistry and many other related areas of study.

  • Transcripts - Official transcripts from EACH College and/or University you have attended.  Must be in a sealed envelope from the institution or sent electronically from the institution directly to ksugrad@kennesaw.edu.
  • GMAT Score Report - Request that your scores be sent electronically to KSU.
    • The following GMAT Alternatives are available:
      • An advanced degree (e.g., masters, doctorate), or
      • An undergraduate grade point average of at least 3.5 OR at least 3.6 in your accounting major from an AACSB accredited institution, or
      • An accounting professional certification (e.g., CMA, CFE, CIA), or
      • At least 3 years of professional accounting work experience as evidenced by your submitted resume.
  • By choosing one of these GMAT Alternatives you are requesting that you not be required to submit a GMAT score. These alternatives are listed in the application and you can choose more than one. Choosing one of these on the application does NOT guarantee an alternative to the GMAT will be granted.
  • Resume - (Can be uploaded into the online application) 
  • Letter of Interest - (Can be uploaded into the online application) Should be no longer than two pages and describe why you are interested in the MAcc degree program and how the program fits with your career/educational goals. In particular, your letter must include a discussion of your short-term and long-term career plans (accounting or other). Please be as specific as possible.
  • Letters of Recommendation (Optional) - Can be sent electronically through the online application.
  • Interview - An interview may be required. If so, you will be contacted by the program to schedule the interview.
