Kennesaw State University (KSU) is a public research university in the state of Georgia with two campuses in the Atlanta metropolitan area, one in Kennesaw and the other in Marietta on a combined 581 acres (235 ha) of land. The school was founded in 1963 by the Georgia Board of Regents using local bonds and a federal space-grant during a time of major Georgia economic expansion after World War II. KSU also holds classes at the Cobb Galleria Centre, Dalton State College, and in Paulding County (Dallas).[6] The total enrollment exceeds 45,000 students making KSU the third-largest university by enrollment in Georgia.

Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering

If you are a working professional or an undergraduate who wants to go directly into advanced studies in mechanical engineering, this master's degree in Mechanical Engineering (MSME) is designed for you. The program consists of advanced general mechanical engineering courses and graduate-level electives that will increase your knowledge, skills, and competency in your field. 

The MSME is a 30-credit hour program which involves:

  • Four (4) required courses that include engineering mathematics, solid mechanics, thermodynamics, and dynamics and vibrations.
  • Six (6) elective courses are required to provide specialized knowledge in areas such as fluid mechanics, heat transfer, composite materials and nanoscale modeling.
  • Our program, both hybrid and online, consists of advanced general mechanical engineering courses and graduate-level electives that will increase your knowledge, skills and competency in your chosen field of mechanical engineering.

  3. Official Evaluation of all foreign transcripts is required. Transcripts may be evaluated by one of the following agencies 
    1. Evaluations must include course-by-course and a calculation of your GPA. The evaluation must come to us in a sealed envelope or electronically directly from the agency

  4. Test of English Proficiency
    1. Applicants from the following countries are exempt from the English Language Proficiency requirement: Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Canada, Dominica, Ghana, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, Liberia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tobago, Trinidad, United Kingdom, United States or Zimbabwe
    2. Applicants who have graduated from a college or university in the United States accredited in a manner accepted by Kennesaw State University are exempt from the English Language Proficiency requirement.  
    3. Applicants not exempt by A or B above can take either of the following tests:
      1. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) Minimum required score:  Internet version (iBT) - 80 
      2. ENGLISH REQUIRMENT - IELTS - 6.5; PTE - 52; Duolingo - 110; TOFEL - 80
      3. International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Minimum required score: 6.5
  5. Additional documents as required by the specific program you are applying to

Application deadlines are the dates at which applications and required documents are due to the Office of Graduate Admissions.  All required application materials, including letters of recommendation (if required), must be submitted to the Office of Graduate Admissions on or before your program of interest’s deadline.

Applicants are encouraged to submit their completed online application, including supplemental materials, early to allow sufficient time for application processing.  The Graduate College is not responsible for delays caused by postal or courier services.
