Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering
You’ll learn to analyze, design, and synthesize products and processes in a variety of areas, such as chemical and petrochemical processes, pharmaceuticals, environmental processes, biotechnology/bioengineering, and pulp and paper processes. You’ll learn the skills to lead interdisciplinary teams and provide practical solutions.
Students take foundational courses in chemistry, mathematics, physics, and engineering sciences; complete a technical concentration in Biochemical Engineering, General Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering or Paper Science with more advanced courses in those areas; and conclude their studies with a year-long capstone design experience. The technical courses are complemented by completing the Global Miami Plan for Liberal Education.
Among the highest-paid engineers, chemical engineers are employed in such industries as biotechnology and biomedicine, electronics, food processing, environmental protection, paper, petroleum refining, and synthetic fibers.
