Pittsburg State University (Pitt State or PSU) is a public university in Pittsburg, Kansas, United States. It enrolls approximately 7,400 students (6,000 undergraduates and 1,400 graduate students) and is a member of the Kansas Board of Regents.

  • Copy of the secondary school or high school certificate of completion or diploma, if applicable
  • Official TOEFLIELTSPTE, or Duolingo score results (not required for conditional admission)
  • Current certified bank statement or financial guarantee (within 6 months)
  • Financial Statement of Support form
  • Delivery Method form
  • Copy of passport (if available)

All official documents (original or certified copies) must be mailed directly to Pittsburg State University. Official transcripts must be received direct from the issuing school in a sealed envelop.

  • If you are currently studying in the U.S., you will need to complete the SEVIS Transfer Form
  • Transfer Students: Please send official transcripts to the Registrar's Office for a transfer credit evaluation.
  • If your spouse and/or dependent children will be joining you in the U.S., you will need to complete the Dependent Form
  • Applicants from the European Union (EU), you must submit this completed GDPR Consent Form before your application can be processed.

Academic Requirements

  • High School Academic Records: A minimum GPA (grade point average) of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) in high school and have earned a high school diploma
  • International College/University Academic Records: A minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) in an accredited international post secondary institution (college/university)
  • U.S. College/University Academic Records: A minimum GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) if transferring from an accredited U.S. college with at least 24 credit hours (approximately one year of college work)

International students are exempt from the ACT or SAT requirement for admission. The ACT/SAT is not required for international admission.

English Language Requirement

In order to begin academic programs at Pittsburg State University, all International students must submit an official, passing TOEFL, IELTS or PTE score to the Office of International Programs and Services. These are the requirements for most undergraduate programs.

TOEFL
TOEFL score of at least 68 (iBT) is required. In addition, a minimum score of 15 is required in each section (internet). Some academic programs (majors) may require a higher TOEFL score.* Institutional TOEFL and ITP TOEFL scores are not accepted.

Contact ETS and request that your score be sent to PSU electronically. Our university code is 6336. You do not need to enter a departmental code.

IELTS
Overall score of 6.0 with a minimum score of 5.0. in each band of the IELTS is required. If a lower score is earned in any of the five band scores, the overall score cannot be accepted. Some academic programs (majors) may require a higher IELTS score.*

PTE
Overall score of 47. Some academic programs (majors) may require a higher PTE score.* 

How to submit your test score
Visit www.pearsonvue.com/pte and log in to send the PTE score to PSU electronically. You do not need a code. Click ‘Current Activity’ on the left of the screen followed by ‘Send Scores’ next to the test for which you want to send scores. You will then be able to search the database of institutions and select Pittsburg State University.  Click on ‘Next’.

Duolingo English Test
Overall score of 100 with a miniumum score of 100 in each section is required. Some academic programs (majors) may require a higher Duolingo score.*

How to submit your test score
Visit https://englishtest.duolingo.com/applicants and log into send the Duolingo score to PSU directly. You do not need a school code. You will then be able to search the database of institutions and select Pittsburg State University.

Several items must be submitted by International students in order to complete the application process. It is important that students allow enough time to complete the application process for the semester they wish to enter.

Application Deadlines

  • Fall (August) - June 1
  • Spring (January) - October 15

*All documents must be received by the deadline dates.

A non-refundable $60 graduate application fee is required for Masters and Specialist in Education degree-seeking students.

Payment for the application fee can be made by check, money order or credit card. Payment by bank draft will not be accepted.
