Students in Rivier’s Computer Science program acquire a conceptual understanding of computer systems and significant project experience in computing areas such as programming, networking, operating systems, software engineering, databases, and web development.

In this program, you will:

Concentrations in Data Science, Cybersecurity, Software Development, and Game Programming allow you to tailor your degree to your individual career interests and goals. A 4+1 program in Computer Science is also available at Rivier, providing students with a seamless transition into graduate studies and beyond.

Through the 4+1 program, students who receive their bachelor’s degree in Computer Science are able to pursue a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Rivier in just one year through the University’s combined 4+1 BS/MS program.

As an international student, you have an advisor who will support you every step of the way. They will assist you in maintaining your F-1 status and addressing any other questions that you may have about the items that are required for enrollment. For starters, here is the list of items that you will need to apply. Please don’t hesitate to ask for information or help on any of these.

  • Application for Admission. Complete the Undergraduate Day (First Year and Transfers) online application.
  • Essay. In one to two pages, please give your reasons for deciding to study at Rivier University, and in the field you have selected.
  • One Letter of Recommendation. This may be submitted by email directly from the author to admissions@rivier.edu.
  • Official Academic Transcripts from all schools attended.
    • Transcript Evaluations. Transcripts from schools, colleges, and universities outside of the U.S. must be evaluated by an agency approved by the National Association of Credential Evaluators or the Association of International Credential Evaluators. Full course-by-course evaluations are required. See the list below.
  • Evidence of English Proficiency

Evidence of English Proficiency

Students whose native language is not English must provide evidence of proficiency in the English language.

  • Test scores are considered official only when they are sent directly to Rivier University or are electronically verifiable by Rivier University.
  • Accepted tests and minimum required scores are: Duolingo (100), TOEFL (61), IELTS (5.5), PTE (43).
  • Some applicants may require higher test scores depending on their educational background and program of entry.
  • Providing a language proficiency test score may not be required if you satisfy one or more of these conditions:
    • You have already earned a high school, college or university degree in the United States.
    • You have successfully completed at least two years of full-time academic study in a diploma or degree-granting program in the United States.
    • You are a citizen of an Anglophone country.
    • You completed English Language courses from a CEA accredited institution.

Required Items if Seeking an F-1 Visa

  1. Copy of the applicant’s current and valid visa/passport.
  2. Current financial statement from a financially responsible party: applicant, a parent, or a sponsor. This information should be no more than one year old at the start of the semester of interest.
  3. Official bank statements must reflect the balance noted (2023-2024 academic year).
    Graduate applicants: $36,328 (U.S.)  Undergraduate applicants: $50,923 (U.S.) for commuter students/$51,323 (U.S.) for resident students.

International Application Deadlines

Applications for admission are reviewed on a rolling basis. We recommend, however, application completion 60 days prior to your intended term start date to allow enough time for admission review, visa processing, and travel plans. The normal processing time for admission response is two-to-four weeks after your completed application, including all required documents/credentials, is received by the Admissions Office.
