Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting

As an accounting major, you'll not only learn the ins and outs of the industry, but you'll take advanced accounting courses that are required by the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy (TSBPA) in order to sit for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam.

Whether you’re talking to investors or managers, as an accountant, you’ll hold the keys to the market economy’s financial system. And you’ll be in high demand, too – reports expect the field to grow faster than most other professions.

A career in this field has specific eligibility standards to sit for a licensing exam. Before you start your degree, read our ineligibility policy.

View Policy & Resources

If you're applying to or enrolled in an educational program to prepare for issuance of an occupational license upon completion of your education, you may face potential ineligibility for the license if you have been convicted of a criminal offense. Other state and local restrictions or guidelines for occupational licenses may also determine the eligibility of a person who has been convicted of an offense.

As an applicant, or a student of the University, with a reason to believe you may be ineligible for a license due to a conviction or deferred adjudication for a felony or misdemeanor offense, you have the right to request a criminal history evaluation letter regarding your eligibility from the licensing authority under TEXAS OCCUPATION CODE Section 53.102 - Effective Sept. 1, 2017.
