Master of Science in Electrical Engineering

A Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) will provide the student with the knowledge and skills needed to pursue many new and different careers in modern society, including careers that have yet to be invented.

Electronics Design and Nanotechnology

The EE department has an electronics design program that is state-of-the-art, with emphasis on very large scale integrated circuits design (VLSI) on a microscopic scale and with a new emphasis of VLSI design on a nanometer-scale as well. A series of VLSI courses (i) design (Analog and Digital VLSI, radio frequency VLSI, low power VLSI), (ii) fabrication (microelectronic fabrication and nanotechnology), and (iii) testing (VLSI testing) are available. A closely related field is mirco- and nano-technology MEMS (microelectromechanical systems). Micro-MEMS designs systems of electronics and motion the size of microns. The smaller nano-MEMS builds systems the size of individual molecules. Nano-MEMS is used to create the next generation of VLSI components, including single-electron-transistors, nano-wires, and quantum computers.

Our department has a strong concentration in signal analysis, including the analysis of human speech vs. noise and the transmission of signals via satellite or cable or cell tower.

The EE department has a large PLC lab. Programmable Logic Control consists of 2 parts. You build an assembly line to move products and to do things to these products; for example, a robot arm will sort products or load them on to a platform. To control this assembly line, you need to implement the necessary computer code.

International Graduate Requirements

The application fee will be waived for all students.

Student Application
Academic records

Submit official/notarized/certified/or attested copies of ALL post-secondary school (university/college) records with a proof of graduation, if available. This includes mark sheets, academic transcripts, final examination results, diplomas, and degree certificates from every college or university attended showing course work, grades, number of credit hours, and conferral of degree(s), if available. Applicants from India should submit their individual semester mark sheets. Failure to provide all academic records may result in denial of admission, admission and scholarship revocation, and/or refusal of transfer credit.

Proof of English proficiency

International students are required to submit official proof of English proficiency, dated within the last two years, for direct admission into an academic program. See a full list of ways to demonstrate your proficiency in English, such as TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo, and PTE.

TOEFL -80, IELTS-6.0, PTE-58, Duolingo - 95

At least two letters of recommendation

Provide two letters of recommendation in English. These letters may be submitted online, or come in a sealed envelope from professors or employers who can attest to the applicants attainments and potential for success at the graduate level. No special form is required.

A personal statement or essay

Submit an original personal statement/essay (250-500 words) CLEARLY explaining why the particular academic program was chosen, what the degree will do for the applicants personal and career development, and how such a degree will help them achieve future goals and aspirations. Include professional plans for after the program is completed.

A resume or C.V.

Submit a resume or C.V. reflecting academic and work experience. Students with no work experience may still apply.

A current passport copy

Applicants currently in the United States planning to transfer their SEVIS record to University of Bridgeport must also submit a copy of their Visa showing their entry stamp and copies of all I-20s received. Applicants planning to bring dependents should also submit copies of those dependents passports, visas, I-20s, birth certificates, and marriage licenses as well.

USCIS requires that students on F1 Visas show proof of funding for a full academic year. Applicants should submit an original or color-scanned bank statement showing readily accessible, liquid assets. If the account is not in the applicants name, please complete and submit the Financial Statement for International Students Form (FSIS). The bank statement must be no more than 6 months old, in English, and it must be in the same name as the sponsor. If being sponsored by a government or company, please submit a letter of financial guarantee with the FSIS form.
